Now I’ve got you curious. What could I possibly mean by “dedicated foil”. We should reuse aluminum foil when we can, but I know it’s sometimes beyond salvation. One idea is to have a large piece of foil kept specifically for those long loaves of French or Italian bread or our household favorite, baguette. Over the years, before I really became cognizant of my waste, I threw out yards of the stuff on simply wrapping bread to warm. I know, I’m flogging myself as I write. Some local recyclers do not accept aluminum foil, but if they do please remember to recycle it after you have reused it as many times as possible. When you don’t have that option you should try to reuse the daylights out of each piece. There is recycled aluminum foil too. So, we’re back to the three Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle and buy recycled when you can.
