Did you know that you can probably purchase green energy or renewable energy from your current energy provider? It’s true. Now, this will add a slight amount to your overall bill, but you can decide how much. By purchasing green energy you help fund further growth of renewables. By using more renewables we can build fewer coal and nuclear plants which can cost almost 2 billion to build with the price rising each year. Maybe we can even remove the need to build even one more plant. I know that locally Xcel Energy and the Eau Claire Energy Cooperative offer green energy programs to their residential and business customers. You could offset approximately 10% of your electrical use for only $1.50. For our home we can offset our entire electricity usage for less than $20 a month. That seems like a small price to pay to support the growth of renewable, clean energy. Check with your local energy provider to see what they offer.
