Did you know that most wrapping paper is not recyclable? Sadly it’s true. But, that may be changing. Recently I’ve run across wrapping paper that is recyclable. No, it’s not perfect, but it’s a start. Ideally, wrapping paper would be created from recycled material, printed with soy or vegetable based non-toxic ink and then be fully recyclable. I like gift bags because you can reuse them over and over. I have also been finding gift bags and rolls made from recycled brown craft paper. If you want to dress up the craft paper you can always use stamps or sticker to decorate them or have you kids color on them. Think about non-traditional wrappings like old phone books, newspaper, the funnies, scraps of cloth, reusable shopping bags, or a scarf. You can make the scarf and reusable bag part of the gift. If you are giving sheets use the pillow case tied with ribbon. Think outside the gift box and have fun.
