Remember what that is? You can still find it and sometimes at a great prices. Forget the big box stores with their disposable furniture. The disposable stuff is not built to last, which means we dump it into landfulls in a matter of a few year. On top of being wasteful disposable furniture also off-gasses things like formaldehyde into your home. Formaldehyde is one of those gases that contribute to poor air quality and new building syndrome. The formaldehyde and other off-gassing components are in the adhesives that hold the “furniture” together. It is worth it to save up and buy quality furniture or (and this is one of my favorite things) hit the second-hand stores, antique stores and thrift sales. Heck, hit up your parents and grandparents. Take up woodworking for a hobby. Well, that last one might be more than you want to tackle, then again you might love it. Disposable is just not worth it. Look for real wood and forget the stuff that has pictures of wood. FSC-Certified wood is the best. That way you know the wood comes from forest that are properly managed. But, that’s for another blog.
