The annual carbon footprint for the U.S.’s consumption of bottled water is 50 million barrels of oil. That is equal to running 3 million cars for one year. 1/4 of that bottle of water is the equivalent of how much petroleum it takes to get that bottle into your hot little hand. Seems a bit excessive doesn’t it? The human race got along just fine until the last 20 years without really using bottled water. Go, run, quickly and buy yourself and all the members of your family a good quality reusable bottle, or heck, two. I got these statistics from the show Eco Trip on The Sundance Channel. Another good show that I highly recommend.
