I ran across another reason to invest in methane digesters today. Birds-of-pray are being scorched, burned and killed by flares coming out of landfulls. Most landfulls simply burn off the methane that they produce and the flames go up through stacks. The hawks and eagles land on the top of the stacks to look for rodents and these intermittent flames come up and burn and scorch them, making it impossible to fly. Or burning them so bad they are preyed upon or die. These same landfulls could capture and use this methane for a power source. Not only would this provide additional energy, but it would keep excess methane out of the atmosphere. Let’s encourage our legislators and those that run landfulls to install methane digesters. We’ll help our environment, encourage energy independance and save those beautiful birds in the sky.
