Here’s an exciting company that I first heard about watching Addicted to Plastic last week. The company’s name is TieTek. They make railroad ties out of recycled materials such as plastic bags, plastic bottles and tires. According to their literature in one mile of track there is approximately 2 million plastic bottles, 9 million plastic bags and 10,000 scrap vehicle tires. That is keeping a lot out of the landfulls. At the same time it’s saving 750 trees in that same mile of track. It also keeps the chemicals out of our environment that are used to treat wood ties to slow rotting. Pretty exciting stuff. You can read more about them here http://www.tietek.com/
