Tomorrow is the 3rd year for something called Earth Hour. Earth Hour begins at 8:30 PM tomorrow, Saturday, March 28th and it lasts for one hour, obviously. The idea is that we all turn off the lights in our homes, businesses and communities for one hour to bring attention to the idea of sustainability. Now, does this really save energy, maybe not, but the ideas is to get the conversation going about ways to be more sustainable as a whole. You go by your local time zone, so the whole world is not turning off their lights at the same time (that would really be something). The one thing I’d like to point out is that burning a paraffin based candle is really just burning more fossil fuels. If you want to keep in the spirit of the evening find a natural beeswax or, at a minimum, a soy based candle. If you really want to go hog wild then unplug all or at least most of your appliances. Make the most of it and enjoy the peace and quiet or hey, have a party. You might enjoy yourself so much you’ll want to keep those lights off longer.
