Don’t give up on hybrids just because gas prices are low again. Saving money on gas is a good reason to drive a hybrid, but there are other reasons as well. Hybrids are helping to push fuel efficiency on non-hybrid cars, emissions are much lower with hybrids than any other cars and if we keep buying and pushing for hybrids eventually all vehicles will be super efficient hybrids and we will be in a much better position environmentally. Just imagine the amount of gas saved and CO2 released if the average sudan got 55 mpg or better by being partially run on electricity. We will keep seeing mpg averages go up as technology continues to improve. I know they are more expensive compared to non-h, but that will also change for the better. I guess the main message here is even when gas prices are low we still need to demand efficient vehicles because it’s not just about saving money, but conserving our resources and keeping CO2 out of the air. An even more exciting thought is vehicles run on completely green technology. Here’s hoping.
