Radiant floor heating is a wonderful upgrade to your home that will save energy and money. Because it heats directly instead of blowing air around it is more efficient and more comfortable. With forced air there are more drafts which make you feel cooler. Radiant heating comes in two main types; hydronic and electric. Hydronic has water heated by a boiler running through tubes. If you only want to use the radiant in a small portion of your home or a couple spots the electric is a better option. It’s less expensive to install, lower maintenance and easier for remodels. If you’re building new or converting a whole house then hydronic might be better. We hope to add radiant floor heating to a couple of our rooms someday. Yep, another project to put on the list.
