I found a cool, new, energy-saving tool. Black and Decker now has a tool to help you find air leaks in your house, it’s called the Thermal Leak Detector. Energy Star says you can save 20% on your heating and cooling costs by sealing air leaks in your home. Pretty cool. I’ve seen very expensive thermal imaging cameras used in home energy audits, but those are way beyond what most of us could afford for home usage. I’m sure the Black and Decker tool isn’t nearly as good as the thermal imaging camera, but I’m betting it would be helpful. Now, you could do the same thing with your hands by walking around your house touching everything, but I still think this could be helpful and beneficial for areas higher than you can reach. It runs for about $39.
