Did I mention before that formaldehyde is not your friend? Well, it really isn’t. Formaldehyde-free insulation is another way to reduce F exposure. There’s a growing selection of new green insulation products. If you feel most comfortable with what you know, there is F-free fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass is not the most green product, but it does work well. Other options in green insulation are; recycled denim, cellulose, wool and some newer spray-in insulations. If you’re building from scratch and are more adventuresome you could do a straw bale or earthen home. Of course part of your decision in picking your insulation will be influenced by the climate where you live.
Remember a well insulated home is more comfortable and energy efficient. You can achieve that goal without the big F, formaldehyde.
